Why Your Siding Takes a Beating in West Texas

We have replaced siding on homes where the panels were less than twelve years old. Not because the homeowner wanted a new look but because the siding had failed. Fiber Cement Siding

For homeowners who want maximum durability and are not afraid of the higher price tag, fiber cement is the premium answer to West Texas weather. It does not warp in extreme heat, does not fade the way vinyl can under years of UV load, and holds up to hail better than almost any siding material available. It is also non combustible, which is a real advantage in drought prone areas where grass fires are a concern. We install fiber cement systems that are engineered for hot, high UV climates.

Soffit & Fascia Installation

The forgotten part of most siding jobs, and where a lot of West Texas homes are quietly falling apart. Rotted, sagging, or missing soffit and fascia lets water, pests, and wind blown dust into your attic and eaves. What We See in West Texas Homes and How We Fix It

After 25+ years of installing and replacing siding across the Permian Basin, certain problems show up over and over again. These are the issues we look for during every consultation.

The South or West Wall That Has Faded, Chalked, or Warped. Direct afternoon sun on the sun side of the house destroys cheap vinyl and dark colors within 10 to 12 years out here. If your siding has lost its color, developed a chalky surface, or started to buckle near the seams, that is UV damage combined with heat expansion. The fix is a UV stable premium vinyl or fiber cement system in a heat appropriate color.

Hail Cracked Panels After a Storm. Most standard vinyl siding is not rated for real West Texas hail. After a big storm we see split panels, holes, and cracked corners across large sections of the home. We handle insurance claim siding replacements regularly and can walk you through the process with your carrier.

Loose or Missing Panels After High Winds. Siding that was not fastened correctly, or was installed with the wrong lock profile for this region, starts flapping after the first big wind event. Once one panel goes, water gets behind the rest and the failure cascades. We install with the proper wind rated locking systems and correct fastening pattern.

Water Damage Behind the Siding. When we tear off old siding we often find soaked, rotted OSB sheathing underneath, usually from failed flashing around windows and doors, or from siding that was installed without a proper moisture barrier. Our installations always include an inspection of the underlying wall, replacement of damaged sheathing, and a proper house wrap moisture barrier before the new siding goes on.

Siding That Was Installed Wrong From the Start. More common than people realize. Wrong fasteners, missing flashing, no room for thermal expansion, panels nailed too tight. Any of these will make even the best siding fail early. When we replace siding, we install it correctly from the sheathing out.

How Our Installation Process Works

1. Free in home consultation. One of our team members visits your home, measures the full exterior, walks through your color and profile preferences, and gives you a detailed written quote. No pressure, no obligation.

2. Custom order. We order your specific profile, color, and trim package from the manufacturer. Standard lead time is three to five weeks depending on the product line and season.

3. Tear off and prep. We remove the old siding, inspect the sheathing and framing for damage, replace any rotted material, and install a proper moisture barrier and flashing.

4. Installation. Our crew installs the new siding with correct nailing pattern, expansion clearance, and lock engagement. Trim, corners, soffit, and fascia go on last.

5. Walk through. We clean up completely, walk you through the finished work, and stand behind everything we install.

Most single story siding projects are completed in five to ten working days depending on home size and weather. Two story homes and larger projects take proportionally longer.
